SUMMER IN THE CITY
With Erin Pollard
We recently spent the day with our dear friend Erin Pollard, the creative behind Underwater Weaving Studio - an atelier dedicated to handwoven heirloom baskets that we have loved styling alongside our Posse pieces for many years now.
Captured through her own lens, Erin moves through familiar streets and favourite neighbourhood haunts that shape her everyday life, offering a personalised guide to New York featuring her most cherished spots around the city.
To mark this collaboration, Erin has also brought a piece of her world into our Bleecker Street store with a bespoke window installation and a limited collection of custom Underwater Weaving bags available exclusively in-store.
Restaurants, Cafes & Bars
I’m partial to everything that Rita Sodi and Jody Williams do. They have been very supportive of my mom and me, incorporating our baskets into their spaces and work. They capture a particular feeling through their spaces and food that is transportative and quintessentially NY.
Via Carota: Quintessential, friendly Italian restaurant, worth arriving for lunch service early to acquire a table. Rita Sodi and Jody Williams are always around- good community
The Commerce Inn: Another masterpiece from the Via Carota team, Rita Sodi and Jody Williams, offering an early-American tavern vibe
Fairfax: Casual, eclectic, and feels exactly like drinking wine and eating oysters in a very chic West Village living room.
Bar Pisellino: A quick espresso or an afternoon aperitivo.
Old School Inspired Favourites
Cappone's: Giant Italian sandwiches. My son loves them!
Faicco’s Italian Specialties: More old-school, massive Italian heroes to split and eat on a stoop or in a nearby park.
Officina 1397: The brilliant supply shop at 50 Grove Street from the Via Carota team for curated Italian provisions, fresh eggs, and beautiful bread.
Murray’s Cheese: Specialty groceries
Gelateria Gentile: Off the path, but worth the walk
Nepita: Mediterranean Gelateria & café, opening this June. Small-batch flavors
Bookstores & Newsstands
Three Lives & Company: The quintessential cozy, independent West Village bookstore. A true neighborhood treasure.
Bookmarc: Marc Jacobs' shop for fashion-forward reads, unique gifts, and gorgeous coffee table books.
Casa Magazine Shop: The iconic, floor-to-ceiling West Village newsstand.
Apparel, Home Shopping
Buck Mason: The perfect stop for classic, high-quality menswear and staple wardrobe pieces.
Loeffler Randall: The boutique for beautiful summer sandals, shoes, and accessories.
Big Night: Located on West 10th, this is a stunning, highly curated shop for hosting and dinner party essentials (think beautiful tinned fish, colorful olive oils, and glassware).
The End of History: 20th Century Antiques to scour
